CU Control Lenses by Opticana
In 2000, there were approximately 1.4 billion people worldwide who suffered from nearsightedness (myopia). By 2050, this number is estimated to reach 4.8 billion, or around 50% of the world’s population. Why is there an increase in myopia? What changed? The new world has created a new reality and changed the lifestyles of millions of people as we have moved into the digital age. This new digital lifestyle with daily exposure to screens, computers, smartphones and televisions, leads to changes in distance vision and creates myopia. Recent studies show that several main factors can lead to myopia in children – excessive use of screens, dim lighting, little time outside the classroom and reduced exposure to daylight, lack of hours of sleep and remote reading. But how does myopia affect our health and quality of life? It can be linked to a variety of medical complications such as retinal detachments, glaucoma, cataracts and optic disc changes. Additionally, if left untreated, it can affect decreased functioning, learning abilities, social and occupational difficulties and challenges, and damage to quality of life. Using state-of-the-art technology, CU Control has created an effective treatment for myopia and the prevention of vision deterioration in children aged 6-16 using glasses. Their lenses can slow the rate of development of myopia and reduce the elongation of the eyeball. CU Control lenses have power reduction, starting from the center of the lens, where there is maximum power and prevention, to the edge of the lens. The reduction works circularly and in all directions of the lens. Circular prescription reduction technology alters focal point positions to precisely match the curvature of the retina. Thanks to this technology, the aesthetic result is also better, and the glasses are thinner and give a high level aesthetic appearance. The treatment is safe, effective, easy and comfortable for children.
