An ode to Annie’s white cheddar shells the badger herald

We all came home at night and rummaged through our trash cans and cupboards for the perfect late night snack, though you never really know what that snack will be like until you find it tucked away behind all the healthy options.

You gaze at the Cheez-Its which is always a classic, and the bittersweet watermelon that might strike on a sunny day. But you know the smell and taste of a bowl of hot mac and cheese would be a treat like no other.

And not just any mac and cheese – Annie’s unmistakable white cheddar shells. The perfect amount of powdered cheese and chewy shells that cling to your tongue like an octopus tentacle. The sound of the spoon stirring the entire stick of butter that you dropped into the pot to finalize the gooey masterpiece. A real treat of the afternoon. Do you still drool?

My personal obsession with these little shells started long before I set foot on campus.

Did anyone else deliberately make plans after elementary and middle school to hang out with the kid who had the huge pantry full of delicious snacks? Or is it just me?

The friend you know would let you spend the entire four hours of play because she knew all you had in your house were fish-free and gluten-free muffins? From Scooby-Doo Fruit Snacks to Xtra Cheddar Goldfish, I would think about this day all week.

So I remember going to my friend’s house and smelling Annie’s irresistible mac ‘n cheese cooking on the stove the very first time. Her mom served us glasses of apple juice and pulled out bowls twice the size of our stomachs because she knew we would eat the whole pot of noodles.

That’s when I knew I was going to make her home my second home.

I feel like we as a community should all take a moment to praise this pasta for its sensational taste and magical ways. He supported us through our raging hangovers and calmed our nerves after a final exam. It helped us build relationships with friends by just being on the counter when someone comes by (because we all know snacks in a hangout have to be elite for the rest of the night to go by. good).

For those of you who are reading this and think that I am a mad carbohydrate lover, you are not wrong. BUT you will understand why I am so attached to this delight if you taste this snack yourself.

University life can be stressful and we all need to indulge ourselves from time to time. Instead of paying for a fancy dinner that you know you’ll be broke after, run to your nearest grocery store and try these seashells for yourself. And just a warning – I’m going to buy some for myself every Tuesday, so try to get there first, or they could honestly all be out of stock.
