Free eye exams

You can book for a free eye exam (eye test) and we also dispense glasses and safety glasses at fixed prices. The appointment lasts two hours and our final year optometry students carry out the eye examination and the distribution of the glasses under the supervision of fully qualified personnel.

Free contact lens fitting and check-up

Available to anyone aged 16 and over, we stock a wide range of contact lenses from all major contact lens manufacturers, including daily disposable, monthly disposable, colored, toric, hard and bifocal contact lenses . You must have an up-to-date prescription for your eye exam.

All contact lens wearers and those wishing to try contact lenses for the first time are welcome.

Children’s exams

Do you have a child under 16? Have they had their eyes checked recently?

The optometry clinic has a specialized pediatric clinic to give our students experience in examining children. Fully qualified optometrists with a special interest in examining children are on staff at our clinic. We have after-school and half-term appointments.

The NHS pays for sight tests for children under 16 and those aged 16 to 18 who are in full-time education. If your child needs glasses, the NHS will give you a voucher, which can cover the full cost of the glasses, or you can use it towards the cost if you want something more expensive.
