For many UH students, university is the first gateway to living away from home. This often comes with the added responsibility for students to take better charge of their health care.
These are just a few of the many health care services available in and around UH to help students on their health care journey.

For non-urgent general health care services, the UH Health Center is a starting point. Their services are offered to students, who can be treated by licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and registered nurses.
They provide primary care, orthopedic and psychiatric services to all students and teachers, as well as specialist counseling and care.
Appointments can be made either through the Coog 24/7 healthy patient portal or by phone. Payment is due at the time of the visit and patients should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled check-in appointment.
Smiles on campus

They offer regular checkups, restorative procedures such as fillings and crowns, whitening services, orthodontic treatments, etc. Walk-in visits are accepted, however, appointments are highly recommended.
A dental examination is required before the first visit to establish a patient record.

It is not at all uncommon to feel stressed and overwhelmed by the responsibilities of being a student. UH counseling and psychology services is a big step in helping students navigate this difficult chapter and gain more control over their lives.
They offer a variety of services to better meet the needs of students, including individual and couples therapy, group therapy, and one-session therapy. Students like graduate public policy student Kashif Naqvi recommend CAPS.
Baylor Adolescent Health Clinic
Although not affiliated with UH, the Baylor Adolescent Health Clinic provides accessible services to residents of Harris County and is located on Cullen. They are best known for providing pregnancy testing, family planning, and STD education for teens ages 13-24.
Their adolescent services are confidential and free, so they’re a great option for any UH student looking for preventive reproductive health services in the area. Medical treatment can also be provided by the clinic pharmacy.
