DEAR POINTS OF SUN: I wish to meet the lady who needs eyeglasses. I have been using Zenni Optical for many years and have never had a problem. Each pair of glasses comes with a cleaning cloth and repair kit. They don’t take insurance, but their prices are very reasonable. I have a very strong prescription; however, I only bought basic glasses and sunglasses from there. I’ve never bought bifocal or progressive lenses so I don’t know how good they are. – Carol, Lewiston
RESPONNSE: Thanks for the recommendation! Our reader Sharon (Dec 27 Sun Spots) wants to hear from people who have used these companies online, so it’s helpful. I hope readers who have ordered bifocals and progressives will respond to share their experiences with us.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I asked if anyone had a statue of Mother Mary and heard several people from Sun Spots Land offer me one. Many people provided photos and some even offered to bring me the statue. I was very happy with the answer and chose two figurines: one for my room and one for my garden! – Lee, no town
DEAR POINTS OF SUN: I am an elderly person living alone. My driveway and steps were very icy earlier in the week and I realized I ran out of sand / salt. I am generally better prepared! I decided to sprinkle some kitty litter on the ice until someone got me some sand.
As I was getting dressed to go out I heard a sound of scrap metal outside the house and there were two teenagers cleaning my steps and laying sand. I could not believe it. I have lived in this house for years and no one has done this for me before. They were gone before I could go out to thank them, but I heard that they were also helping other people on the street. -Alice, Lewiston
RESPONNSE: I hope they will come back and watch over you this winter!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a VHS player for the person who wrote looking for one. Maybe she could write again with her contact details. – Stan, Poland
RESPONNSE: We will find her. Readers, it is very important for you to include your phone number and / or email address. Your contact details are crucial and I will not include them in the column if you tell me not to. Especially if you need something, or have something to offer, other readers must have a way to reach you.
