Sky Atlantic to present The Affair in May

The Affair is set in New York City and follows schoolteacher Noah Solloway and young waitress Alison Bailey as they begin an extramarital affair after meeting on Long Island. The show explores the emotional effects of this relationship as the couple try to cope with tragedy and hopelessness in other areas of their lives.

The critically acclaimed drama originally aired on Showtime last year, and Sky struck a deal with CBS Studios to bring the program to UK screens later this spring. West (The Wire) and Wilson (Luther) take the lead roles while Joshua Jackson (Fringe) and Maura Tierney (ER) also star.

The Affair won a Golden Globe for Best Dramatic Television Series earlier this year and Wilson won the award for Best Actress. Showtime has ordered a second season, which will air in the United States later this year.

Sky Atlantic Director Zai Bennett said: “I am delighted that we got The Affair for Sky Atlantic. Its complex storytelling and phenomenal acting fit perfectly into the channel, further strengthening our channel’s position as birthplace of quality drama in the UK. “

The Affair joins the growing list of US imports on Sky Atlantic, which includes Game of Thrones, Blue Bloods, Mad Men, and Ray Donovan.
