‘Stay away’: Police searching for elopement last seen in west Toronto

Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 60-year-old man held in a western mental institution who has been absent without leave.

Glen Alexander Martin was last seen Monday, April 11 at 2:17 p.m. in the West Queen West area near Queen Street West and Ossington Avenue.

Martin is described as five foot six and 313 pounds with brown eyes, a gray beard and shoulder length wavy gray hair. He was last seen wearing reading glasses, a black cap, a black jacket, a red shirt, black jeans and black shoes.

He is currently bound by a Form 49 “warrant of committal”, which is issued by the Ontario Review Board when a person is found not criminally responsible in court. A Disposition of Detention Warrant commits a person to the custody of a provincial psychiatric hospital and binds them to certain conditions.

Police say Martin was found not criminally responsible for the offenses of sexual assault and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.

Investigators are concerned for his safety.

Anyone who locates this elopey is asked not to approach him, but rather to call 911 immediately.
