SynergEyes iD lands in the UK

The new contact lenses are designed to the wearer’s measurements and feature a multifocal element supported by an EDOF design from the Brien Holden Vision Institute


Positive Impact announced the UK launch of SynergEyes iD, which uses a tailored approach for what the company has described as “the next generation of hybrid contact lenses.”

Contact lenses are individually designed for each patient’s ocular measurements, using keratometry and horizontal visible iris diameter (HVID) readings, as well as refraction.

The diameter and curvature of the patient’s cornea are also used in the lens design, with new skirts following the linear shape of the sclera, which the company says means there is no need to choose. between fixed skirt or base curve options.

The SynergEyes iD also includes a multifocal element, supported by a proprietary Extended Depth of Field (EDOF) design from the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI).

Phil Thompson, Professional Services Manager for Positive Impact, said, “iD stands for individual design and builds on the successful Duette goal, improving that design using a more personalized approach to achieve the optimal fit.

“For example, there are now four times as many models of single skirts, but at the same time the lens is even easier to install, without the need for mounting kits,” he explained.

The new lenses are empirically fitted, which the company says eliminates the need for multi-purpose diagnostic fit sets and trial lens application, reducing chair time. SynergEyes iD patient application and removal resources also support patient success, a suggested positive impact.

Thompson continued: “Our early access program for UK practitioners is already achieving excellent results, in line with our US colleagues.”

The base curve of SynergEyes iD is available from 7.10 to 8.30mm in 0.01mm increments. The skirt is available to accommodate an HVID range of 10.0 to 13.0mm.

The power range of single vision lenses is -15.00D to + 10.00D. Multifocal lenses range from -10.00D to + 5.50D, with the EDOF lens available in three models for low, medium and high add powers.
